Chemical Engineer – Design and Development
D&M Continuous Solutions is seeking a talented and driven individual to join an industry leading firm in equipment design for pharmaceutical processes for research and manufacturing scale. We work with customers around the world to deliver equipment and innovative process designs to enable production of pharmaceutical products for traditional chemical engineering unit operations as well as specialized modalities such as peptides and oligonucleotides.
Key responsibilities:
The engineer has a diverse set of responsibilities, some examples include:
· Create engineering drawings and perform calculations around equipment sizing and design.
· Provides engineering support for equipment platforms through application of chemical engineering fundamentals.
· Perform lab experiments in parallel with equipment development to support customer projects for small molecule, peptides, or oligonucleotides at a variety of scales.
· Perform minor coding updates or work with automation engineer to use the DeltaV system and/or other PLC (Horner, etc) to control and monitor the process.
· Responsible for equipment start up, operation, shutdown, and cleaning.
· Responsible for material of construction and corrosion analysis for equipment development.
· Keeps accurate documentation including proper use of laboratory notebooks, provides written summaries for supervision, when requested.
· Summarizes, prepares, and tabulates data and works with other laboratories and support groups.
· Perform equipment troubleshooting as required and design equipment to support and operate safely such as: solids plugging and fouling problems, pumps, back pressure devices.
· Understands and complies with corporate, divisional, and departmental procedures, including safety and other applicable regulations.
Skills:
· Experience working in chemical labs
· Experience sourcing equipment and evaluating options
· Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a Process Team consisting of a diverse group of management, production, science, and engineering professionals
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Knowledge of safety, environmental, and ICH guidelines
· Working knowledge of automation of DeltaV control systems preferred
· Working knowledge of peptides and oligonucleotide separations preferred
Educational Requirements:
· Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field
· 3+ years of relevant experience preferred
