Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Chemist with experience in the food and/or pharmaceutical industry to join our quality control or research and development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing chemical analyses, developing formulations, supporting production processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance in accordance with FDA, GMP, and HACCP guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Develop, validate, and optimize analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-VIS, FTIR) for testing food or pharmaceutical products.
  • Support formulation and stability studies for new and existing products.
  • Investigate deviations and assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation per GMP and GLP standards.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production departments to support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA, USP, ISO).
  • Participate in internal audits and regulatory inspections as needed.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and ensure lab safety procedures are followed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience in the food, beverage, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical industry .
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, titration, spectroscopy).
  • Familiarity with regulatory and quality systems including GMP, HACCP, GLP, and FDA/USDA standards .
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and LIMS systems.
  • Excellent documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with stability testing, shelf-life studies, or formulation development.
  • Knowledge of food additives, excipients, or active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
  • Experience in method development and validation according to ICH guidelines.

Work Environment:

  • Laboratory and production environment; exposure to chemicals and analytical equipment.
  • May require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of lab materials.
