Skylar Morgan Furniture makes handmade, clean-lined furnishings, cabinetry and architectural millwork for homes and commercial spaces all over the American southeast and the world.

DESCRIPTION – Innovative furnishings and cabinetry is seeking a mid-senior level finisher for a full-time position to join our talented team, completing finishing work for furnishings, millwork, and cabinetry. Must have 5+ years experience in the field of finishing with a furniture company, cabinet shop, or woodworking firm. Service experience, and an understanding of high-end products with an innate understanding of design is required.

This position is essential in ensuring that our custom furniture pieces are finished to the highest standards, contributing to the overall quality and aesthetic of our products.

JOB FUNCTIONS –

• Reports to Production Manager
• Works closely with production and finish prep teams
• Must be able to read production drawings
• Works closely with sanding team to complete pre-prep sand finishing prior to spraying finishes
• Completes finish work - sprayed finishes, hand applied finishes, and stains - for all furnishings and millwork pieces
• Prepare surfaces for finishing by sanding, cleaning, and applying stains or paints
• Apply finishes to furniture pieces using various techniques to achieve desired aesthetics
• Inspect finished products for quality assurance and make adjustments as needed
• Collaborate with client services team and craftsmen to understand project specifications and requirements
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring safety standards are met
• Produces custom samples for client projects
• Produces samples for furniture line and library
• Experience with fine furniture finishing
• Ability be able to manage project from start to finish
• Organizes and maintains finish room tools and equipment
• Knowledge of solid wood characteristics
• Knowledge of metal and brass characteristics
• May perform duties in the support of other builders, sanders, and finishers
• Willingness to learn and apply new techniques

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE –

• 5+ years experience in furniture finishing, woodworking, or carpentry
• Experience working with finishes, stains, sanding or woodworking
• Strong attention to detail with a passion for craftsmanship
• Must demonstrate a high level of speed and accuracy
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual labor
• Must excel in an entrepreneurial, open and collaborative environment
• Prior experience with a furnishings or cabinetry company is preferred
