Job Title: IT Project Manager

Location: Tallahassee, FL

Position: 6-12 months contract position, with the possibility of a long-term extension

Pay Rate: About $60HR depending on the ideal candidate's background & experience

Position Overview

NewSouth Technologies is seeking a highly skilled IT Project Manager to lead large-scale data management projects in a multi-agency environment. This role requires a proven leader with strong project management expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to ensure successful project execution while adhering to established state standards, processes, and tools. The Project Manager will be a key contributor to statewide IT initiatives, managing complex deliverables and ensuring effective collaboration with stakeholders across agencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Service Delivery
• Lead project teams in executing project processes and utilizing project portfolio management tools and systems.
• Coordinate communication with statewide advisory groups and key project stakeholders.
• Ensure the successful execution and completion of large-scale data management projects using standard project management frameworks.
• Manage projects across multiple contributing organizations and state agencies.
• Define project goals, deliverables, risks, and critical success factors.
• Prepare and present reports and project summaries to state government leadership and statewide advisory groups.
• Track and manage work breakdown structures, team assignments, and task status updates.
• Provide support during emergency duty; availability is required before, during, and after natural or man-made emergencies as part of the organization's responsibilities.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Platform Manager.
• Internal Processes & Support
• Follow established team processes, procedures, and standards.
• Develop documentation for support processes, systems, and procedures.
• Maintain the security, confidentiality, and availability of systems under management.
• Participate in on-call and/or overtime duties as required.

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in IT Project Management in enterprise/multi-agency environments
• Large-scale data management project leadership
• Project Portfolio Management tools (e.g., MS Project, Clarity, Jira, ServiceNow)
• Communication & coordination with executive stakeholders / advisory groups
• Risk, compliance, and reporting for state or government agencies
• Emergency Duty / Disaster Recovery planning
• Public Sector / Higher Education experience
• PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum certification

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of executive-level reports and presentations.

Additional Information

• This is a full-time (40 hours per week) contract position located in Tallahassee, FL. The role requires local presence for certain responsibilities, including equipment pickup and potential on-site collaboration depending on organizational needs.
