About the Role: UPS Industrial Services is in search of an industrial Pipefitter/Welder Foreman in Chalmette, LA. The successful candidate will be capable of reading and understanding P&ID’s and isometric drawings. This position directs and supervises one or multiple foremen. The Foreman will be responsible for maintaining knowledge of safety policies and procedures and perform assigned duties in a safe manner. The Foreman is responsible for ensuring employees comply with established safety policies, procedures as well as practicing safe work habits. This is a local maintenance project and does not pay per-diem so the ideal candidate must live within 50 miles of Chalmette, LA. The shifts are 5x8's Monday - Friday.

Requirements:

• Must be able to pass drug screen.
• Must be able to pass background check.
• Must have a valid TWIC card.
• Must be able to pass a physical and PFT/FIT test.
• Must have above average leadership abilities and be able to lead by example.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must have transportation to and from job site.

Responsibilities:

• Will be responsible for the safe execution of work assigned to crew(s); assuring all employees comply with safety procedures.
• Will be responsible for the efficient and productive use of workers, equipment, tools, etc.
• Will be responsible for furnishing complete and accurate information with respect to timesheets, job progress reports, etc.
• Will be responsible for putting complete and accurate information in the turnover book. And be able to communicate with others.

Job Duties & Essential Functions: :

• Properly fill out JSA and/or JHA.
• Conduct daily safety meetings.
• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Motivate work crews through effective employee relations and strong leadership.
• Examine equipment and tools to ensure their integrity and safe use, and all other safety-related items required during the performance of the work.
• Coordinate work of assigned employees with employees assigned to other foreman and/or other contractors.
• Assures that materials are at jobsite when required.
• Converse politely and intelligently with customers, customer representatives and fellow employees.
• Assists in planning, estimating and scheduling when requested.
• Perform personnel-related activities (evaluation, discipline, etc.) as required.
• Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees.
• Must be willing to comply with company safety policy and/or any related OSHA/ANSI standard regarding proper wearing of PPE, safe work practices, etc.
• Must be able to select proper equipment for any given job.
• Must have knowledge of Safe and Proper Equipment set up.
• Must be willing to work for extended hours and willing to work beyond their scheduled shift, if/when required.
• Able to work the day shift and/or night shift.
• Follow oral and written directions.
• Must be willing to act as mentor to less experienced employees.
• Perform all other duties as required

Qualifications and Experience:

• This position requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must have at least 96 months’ experience in the petro-chemical industry.
• Must have at least 36 months experience as a craft foreman.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift more than 30 pounds.
• Use repetitive hand motions.
• Prolonged use of the computer.
• Steady phone interactions

Mental Requirements

• Requires considerable concentration and focus. It is subject to stress caused by a changing environment, diversity in the organization, tight deadlines and workload.
• Normal concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort.
• Normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information.
• Normal complexity of decision making.

Equipment Used:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Viewpoint, SharePoint).
• Proficient with using the telephone, copier, scanner and printer.

Working Environment:

• Outdoor/Plant Environment
