Job Description

Job Title: Training Manager

Location: Onsite, with estimated 20% travel nationally

Category: Full Time - Exempt EOE Disability/Vet

Summary: This role is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs companywide, with a focus on best practices and safety protocols, to meet federal construction contract standards.

Responsibilities:

Training Development & Delivery:

  • Plan, develop, and implement training programs including manuals, presentations, and support materials.
  • Stay current with relevant regulations and industry standards, ensuring compliance among all aspects of construction operations. 
  • Use needs assessment to identify training gaps and provide a necessary improvement plan.
  • Conduct job-site visits to identify and organize operation team training programs.
  • Assess the adequacy of existing programs and courses, screening and validating education and training needs.
  • Sequence program objectives, select instructional designs and media, and determine resource needs.
  • Track employee certifications, develop training schedules and maintain records. 
  • Create, coordinate, and monitor formal training processes for new employees.
  • Deliver training programs, which may include classroom instruction, hands-on training, or online courses.
  • Help compile SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and Best Practices for all departments.
  • Plan, develop and implement a Mentor Program for new employees to be paired with experienced employees in the same department to aid in training and professional development. 

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate programs, identify deficiencies, and oversee corrective actions.
  • Collect feedback from trainees and use it to improve training materials and delivery techniques. 
  • Prepare directives to manage and control education and training efforts.
  • Identify providers, resources, and ensure availability of materials.
  • Determine the most cost-effective methods for delivering training.
  • Develop and manage reporting procedures and provide statistical reports on program operations.

Collaboration:

· Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and other key stakeholders to integrate training into projects. 

· Work with leadership to ensure that training is delivered and that best practices are followed on all construction sites. 

Skills:

  • Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively train and engage team members. 
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations and best practices. Microsoft Office Suite, video presentation software.
  • Leadership and Management Skills : Ability to lead and motivate training teams, manage budgets, and coordinate with other agencies.
  • Adaptability : Ability to adapt to changing priorities and demands.

Other Duties:

  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Management or Operations Manager. 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in construction or related industries.
  • Industry-recognized trainer certifications or experience are preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Video presentation software is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team. 
Physical Requirements

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time).

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works alternately on-site at the construction work site and in an office environment. On-site may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. In offices, the noise level is quiet to moderately loud.
