Cardiovascular Certified Surgical Assistant (CCSA)

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Shift:

Employment Type: 11 weeks contract with possible extension

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Certified Surgical Assistant (CCSA) to join our cardiovascular surgery team. This role supports surgeons in complex heart and vascular procedures while ensuring high-quality patient care in a fast-paced OR environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in cardiovascular surgeries including CABG, valve procedures, aortic surgery, and vascular bypass.
• Perform conduit harvesting (endoscopic or open), suturing, hemostasis, and tissue handling.
• Prepare, position, and drape patients for surgery; maintain clear operative exposure.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, and OR staff.
• Support postoperative closure, documentation, and patient safety protocols.

Qualifications:

• Certified Surgical Assistant with cardiovascular specialty (CCSA/CVCSA/CSA/RSA).
• Experience in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgery preferred.
• Proficiency with conduit harvesting strongly preferred.
• Current BLS required.
